brightening aluminum???

ive scrubbed and cleaned my head and timing cover till they are spotless but they are dull and kinda ratty looking. anyone found anything to bring the aluminum back to near new finish???

...I would imagine they know all the tricks. My guess is the older the aluminum the more material removal is required to make it shine. If aluminum welders have to worry about metal contamination, then that tells me the surface is porous enough to take in impurities over time and thus the material removal. I only ever had luck sandblasting the stuff to really clean it.

aluminum wheels. The main ingredient was a dilute phosphoric acid if my memory is correct. That may work.

Engine parts. I would suggest consulting an automotive plastic media/sand blaster in your area. Let them know what you are looking for so they can use the proper media, such as plastic,walnut shells sand, glass bead. If you ask, they will even tell you how to keep those parts in the new condition.
