The dollar stores are closing all over the country, succumbing to inflation. And, Yes ! I will lament their passing as they have been a convenient, cheap  and great source for many things including automotive related products. These include name brand engine oil ( both standard and synthetic ) shop rags, duct tape available in an assortment of colors, glues, chrome metal tape and cleaning and detailing supplies, tools etc. Sure, there are those of you here with deep pockets who could care less, but they were a great source for those of us working class folk.

I purchased my collection of BMW 2002 Hotwheels, including a 3.0CSL there, for 99 cents each, among other things.

Where else can you get 4 rolls of dog poop bags for 99 cents ?

An LED light bulb for 99 cents ?

A torpedo level for 99 cents ?

A battery operated toothbrush, battery included, for 99 cents ?

A gallon of bleach for 99 cents ?

A spray bottle of good and effective stain remover for 99 cents ?

A box of condoms for 99 cents ?

A pregnancy test kit for 99 cents ?

A 12oz can of Sapporo beer for 99 cents ?

A good size dustpan for 99 cents ?

etc. etc. etc.

Toooo Baaad !

What's happening to the dollar ?

Somehow that juxtaposition just begs for a joke or pithy remark...like, "Save a buck--and potentially much more--by purchasing the first item..."

Although 99 cent condoms might not be a wise choice...

A torpedo level for 99 cents ?

A battery operated toothbrush, battery included, for 99 cents ?

A gallon of bleach for 99 cents ?

A spray bottle of good and effective stain remover for 99 cents ?

I suppose the bleach would work😳

A box of condoms for 99 cents ?

I just bet the birth rate went up when they started selling these check for pin pricks!!

A pregnancy test kit for 99 cents ?

A 12oz can of Sapporo beer for 99 cents ?

A good size dustpan for 99 cents ?

I forgot to add one gallon of windshield washer fluid for 99 cents.

Brake fluid for 99 cents.

Hand cleaner for 99 cents.

Crazy Glue or Super Glue for 99 cents.

12oz smoothie in assorted flavors for 99 cents. They also sold it in  1/2 gallon for $1.99.

Trail mix for 99 cents.

16 0z Energy drink for 99 cents.

The last three are great for that needed extra burst of energy when there is no time to stop for lunch while changing out the transmission.

And the list goes on.

And to top it off, more often than not the oddest people worked and shopped at these stores.

Have you ever heard of inflation Slavs? Pound shops in the UK gave up selling stuff for a quid years ago, why don't Dollar Stores follow suit? Or are other market factors in play, like strong real estate value versus poor returns on a Dollar Store?

I bet you shake your walking stick at young people 😉

In Canada put a 3. in front of the .99.  The cost of shit is crazy. Last year they doubled the price of natural gas to homes.  They are taxing vacant homes and if you don't remember to tell them you now have to dispute a $22K bill.

... but free health care, lots of trees and water, and cannabis (if you are into that sort of thing).

Dollar stores closing? Why in this day and age when all they have to do is hang a sign out in front

WE ARE GOING OUT OF BUSINESS!!

Those stores never close.......

Loose: Not tightly bound. Subject to motion.
Lose: What happens when you are spell check dependent.

1975 Malaga. It is rusty and  springs an occasional leak.  Just like me.

The Dollar Store is dead… Long live the Dollar Store!

With all this inflation, we as well start pricing things in Bitcoins now… no wait, I mean Satoshis as a single Bitcoin is now too expensive for the regular Joe. Perhaps we can also price things in Dogecoins as people sure love their doggies and would put them on a “currency”.

I come from a place when all is lost, including the government and banking system, people resort to trading in home made plum brandy and old Venetian gold coins (Ducats) that they've stashed.  I think that's where we're probably headed. The plum brandy, though, brings out the worst in some people when the deals go "South" and they resolve their disputes  with knives and guns.

Can we restrict Slavs posting ability to the off topic section only?

Won't work. He is like Mr. Hugo, The man of a thousand faces, but in his case a thousand member profiles.
