I am back on the road with my 1973 Verona…Schnell. Some of you may remember the saga of this car. The most recent event involved a nut that fell off my air cleaner housing, sucked into the carb, caused a high rev, passed through the carb into the head where it embedded in piston #3. Really, really bad luck.

Brian Capp did a complete rebuild and I got a pretty serious case of “while I am in there” illness. Lightened flywheel, oil baffles, new Schrick, fuel regulator, big alternator, steering box, etc, etc. etc. Bottom line is the engine is very, very quick with more horsepower than before and the steering is even tighter. The voice has changes slightly and is a bit more throaty and deeper. Brian did an awesome job.

I just picked it up today so I am busy just cleaning it up and will be breaking it in over the next weeks before I really know what she can do. I will get some pictures posted over the next couple of weeks. The engine bay is pretty nice.

Thanks again, Brian, it was worth the wait! Ohh.. the ghost click in the right side on a hard corner seems to be gone.

I have what appears to be the same condition you have. It appears to be caused by a bad turn signal seal. Do you have a plan to deal with it yet? Isn't there brass filler in that same area where the front clip meets the fender? Just curious because it looks like its possible to repair, but wasn't sure.

thinking you may forget and leave her here but nooooo

I had to give her back today... very pleased with how things turned out, and I do appreciate the kind words.

Yours is definitely one of the nicest around. Hopefully we will see you at some of the upcoming NW 02 SIG events too!
