Production Numbers

I am looking at the production numbers in the "Complete Book of BMW," and I am seeing that the production for the 1800 started in 1964 and continued through 1971. On the other hand, 1800 Ti production started in 1963 and continued through 1969. Is that correct?  I always thought that the standard 1800 was built before the Ti version.

The 1800 was introduced in fall of 1963 along with the 1800 Ti. But i recall reading somewhere that BMW only sold a handful of Ti's in 1963. The production really took off in 1964.

 

The 1800 Ti was discontinued in spring of 1966, the standart 1800 was built until early 1971 with the round headlights and vertical taillights and continued with the 2000 body sold as the '2000 1.8' until the end of production in mid 1972.

 

btw i have a price list from 1963 that includes the 1800Ti. I can dig that up if you like

I think the point is that BMW effectively ended up 1800ti production in 1966, but only for LHD. It seems some 1800ti RHD have been produced up to 1968.
