Anyone want to drive my '72 from SoCal to Anchorage?

I have a '72 2002 parked at a friend's house north of LA (China Lake), and if I can't get the time to drive it home to Anchorage, AK, perhaps I could have a fellow 2002 obsessionist drive it up here. Cool but long drive, about a week if you take it easy (I brought my '73tii up from Seattle in 68 hours two years ago, but that was steady pushing).

This is a PRELIMINARY check for any interest in such a vacation trip. Alternatively, if I can swing the time off work, I plan to drive myself, and would be happy to caravan with another (or more) 2002. (Hey, if Rey74tii can go to Mexico from Colorado...)

Thanks in advance.

OK guys, I figured someone might get interested. Actually when I got the car last Oct. over Internet, and had a buddy in Redondo take it to China Lake (another '02 friend who doesn't mind storing it), I was hoping to talk up a fun caravan for 2002, from West Coast to Alaska. I might have a chance for free shipment from Seattle to Anchorage which would save a lot of wear and tear, but I won't know for a few more weeks. If the car must be driven up here, I must confess to a selfish desire to drive it myself, and I would love to have the company of other 2002's. I made the trip 2 yrs ago and the scenery is awesome but the drive quite long... I can't remember some of the dark parts as we drove nite and day over Labor Day weekend.

I just heard from a neighbor up here who drove a new pickup truck from Seattle, that there is a long section of the road in Yukon Territory around Kluane Lake that is "no road", meaning reconstruction was stalled and the gravel was so rough he drove his TRUCK about 15 mph in some sections. That does not sound fun in a 2002. I will have to check the road conditions and keep the group posted.

Thanks for the enthusiastic response.

HELP ME! Stop me before I hurt my bank account again! I drove a '74tii Sunday morning here, for sale for $3750. Like I need a 4th 2002 !!

Eric in Alaska
