New Starter needed

Hello, I,m looking to get a new starter and came across on this one:  Product Specification:  1.7 KW/12V, CW, 9-TOOTH PINION

 

Bosch Remanufactured:  SR 442X, SR 441X

Would this be the one for my 02?

That is a good starter. 

 

 

For future reference, you can use any starter that came on all variations of m10, s14, and m30 engines (manual engines, not sure about automatic). Many later starters are much lighter and stronger than the factory 2002 starters.

To echo what Ryan said, I personally would use an S14 starter as they’re not much more expensive (if at all), they’re lighter and they crank faster.

Me, I don't give up on original starters. IMO, they are better built that aftermarket ones. I just take them apart to see what is wrong with them. In most cases it happens to be worn out carbon brushes that are worn out.

If you want the original starter, the Bosch SR71X (remanufactured) from RockAuto is only about $70.
