Center support bearing rein vs febi vs OEM/BMW ?

Recommended Posts

Yes, I did search this toot and I did find slightly dated posts.

I usually buy from blunt and believe me this isn’t really a price issue.

called the local BMW dealership, quotation

$279.00 before Bmwcca discount.

big difference could mean a big difference in quality not just price.

any direction towards a “best of” decision

appreciated .

Be careful, there.

Parts marked 'Febi' have one set of quality control issues.

Parts marked 'Bilstein' have another set of issues,

many related to Theissen, and other corporations.

I have some suspicion that 'febi bilstein' parts are made by neither concern,

just as 'hella behr' parts have none of the good qualities of either Hella or Behr.

As to center supports, it's not uncommon to get a $20 aftermarket part

and a $278 BMW part, and the only difference is the baggie and sticker.

Honestly, at this point, personally I order one of every non-BMW

manufacturer and use whatever seems best, returning the true junk, and

if there's a 'good second' then I keep that one too.

Sometimes it's just the best of the worst, and it's pretty terrible.

I, on the other hand, have a whole 'nother set of issues!

The part runs for out generation cars are small and a major manufacturer might well farm it out to a smaller company while they concentrate on large order OEM parts, my op was directed, at least in my mind, to the fact that BMW is buying their parts from a 2nd or 3rd party so there's no guaranty of the quality being the same as the original part.

Was there a manufacturer that used SKF

Bearings ?

SKF is currently a manufacturer of the center support bearing for the E10 chassis. Other manufacturers may use SKF bearing in their CSB fixture.
