Price: $9000
Location: Sacramento, CA

Description:

I'm in the market for another 02 that I can daily without obsessively checking the parking lot every 10 mins to ensure no one is messing with my baby.

This was posted today, but I feel like I've seen it posted before a while back. I already reached out to the seller, but curious if anyone here has seen it or recognizes it. https://sacramento.craigslist.org/pts/d/sacramento-1975-bmw/7422437312.html

9 is at the very limit of my budget and seems like A LOT based on what's shown in this ad. But maybe I'll show up and be surprised with a 5 speed and fresh suspension

The 72 is the better option IMO, however it looks like it will take a "lil more" cash than you have alotted to get it road worthy (at least).  And it require "some" sweat equity  along the way.

If it was closer I would take a run at it myself. 68-73 cars in this condition do not show up too often....GL

Repeat after me;

"I do not need another 2002 project"

"focus on the things already in your life"

"stay the course, sell off what you have already"

"the promise of a return on investment is not worth the effort"

"This is just a distraction"

"there are better things to do with your time & money"

I don't have kids, and driving an 02 is way more fun than Bitcoin or whatever the bros are into these days. Though I agree, this is a lot of project for $6500 and there's usually a reason it gets abandoned.

just trying to talk a fellow off the ledge-namely myself. Last year I would not have thought twice about a car like this, but now, not so much.  Let the fools chase money pit basket cases.

Ya I thought I needed a daily for my garage so I bought an 87 e30 for anther project, thinking I would have lots of time to make some improvemnts. Man was I wrong. Some 2 years later,  I am back to one and only one. I have been retired for 15 years now so Im playing on God's back 9. I fear if I was to start another project now it would mean the an early appearnace on the 19th tee.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
