1976 2002 - new listing on Hemmings

Looks pretty darned honest, even down to the mileage. And you know I’m an avowed non-believer when it comes to “original mileage” claims. Zeibarted, which means… well, the jury is still out on whether that helped or hurt! ? This car was garaged and, mostly, loved or ignored — which was a good thing here!

I’m seeing a hell of a lot of original, in just-needs-cleaning-and-detailing condition.

Value? Only the buyer knows. I was honestly shocked when an appraisal came back for my ‘76 — I never even met the appraiser face to face, so I couldn’t schmooze him or show him the car’s baby photos — after its Big Re-Paint (2015-2018): $52,500, at least $20,000 more than I was expecting. So it’s been insured for $50,000 since 2018, up from its pre-paint $10,000!

Anywho… ?

If you like original, if you like low miles, and if you can deal with “that square taillight” thing, this looks like a pretty darned good answer. Although I’m both a Chamonix fan, and generally a “tan leather” fan (Nylon Brown leatherette in this case), the combination is quiet and lacks the “zing” of the more common Chamonix over Marine Blue combo.

I’ll shut up now… Hell’s Angels driving Chamonix over Nylon Brown ‘02’s are probably lined up outside, waiting for a piece of me…

Regards,

Steve

Hey, Steve, just slip into your Hell's Angels Motorcycle Jacket and Engineer Boots(really showing my age) and you will be right at home with the lads. Or you could do what a buddy did one Sunday in New Hope, Pa. Rodee his original Vesper Motor scooter into New Hope. The motorcycle crowd loved it. Couldn't get enough of it. At least 50  bikes on a typical Sunday morning.

Looked at the photos again. Certainly as original as Lilli, my 82,000 original miles Chaminox, 1976. Agree about the Marine Blue, the "zing" is there everytime I get into Lilli.

They came with the car. The PO had replaced them with Recaros and new door cards, saved it all, passed it along. Plan is to put it all back in.

Although they appear to have been re-stuffed, they appear to be old BMW leather. Rare, but they do exist.

Best regards,

Steve

I saw that one recently on FB or craigslist. looks sweet.  Like bav boy I also have the Chamonix over blue, The tan looks great also.  Here is a square light that broke not only $50k but 60k .  Its a toss up to spend that much on an original or a similar amount on a quality restored one.  The restored ones can be slightly more outstanding and easier to keep up.  If done properly. fred
