Please help a 2002 newbie identify this carb

Recommended Posts

Thank you Tom, that's the stock solex carb, IMO not solexs best product, most here have switched over to the weber 32/36 dgev it's a better carb and parts are available. I'm sure Tom (Mintgrun'02) can fill you in😁.

… I also have no idea what engine is in it. I know it has four cylinders...

And it looks like a stock 2-liter M10 engine, the M10, in various displacements, being the BMW engine fitted to all ‘02’s.

The article below will help you determine the specifics of your new car’s engine.

Welcome to the forum. You now own a 46-year-old car! I’d recommend you buy an Owner’s handbook, a factory repair manual, and/or one of the aftermarket repair and restoration books, such as the one by Mike Macartney. Even if you don’t intend to perform repairs yourself, any of these sources would help you identify your car’s components.

Regards,

Steve
