Soft ones have a big drawback, if you leave them on the foam backing melts when you inadvertently activate the auxiliary lamps. I shelved them and put on plastic cibie covers.

And if they have no foam...they offer no protection. I have a nice set of Hella le mans covers, with foam and some others without. The ones without foam don't really look right, the foam is needed to make the cover taught when fitted. But as I mentioned, it has one drawback if you have halogen bulbs you have heat. LED might be a way to avoid that. I usually don't forget, but the idiot in the inspection station turned them on...and I didn't notice immediately.
