$1100 ? We're a long way away from April 1st! Lol You may want to consult with craigslist and ebay to see the going rate for your wheels or even search the back pages of the parts for sale section you have them posted in to see what past for sale ads for the same wheels have garnered.  You could be simply hoping to find an uninformed buyer but you would likely find that on facebook marketplace or even ebay.

And… I can’t find the eBay listing now, but someone listed a set of four FPS e21 turbines — in desperate need of refinishing, and advertised as such — for $5K. I kid you not!

OK: I exaggerated. His actual ask was $4,999… ?

Regards,

Steve

Wonders never cease in this day and age.  My dander is not up in the least Steve. This is not a big ticket item.  The wheels pictured are used wheels that have had tires mounted on them and are definitely not NOS.  I can't even imagine somebody selling a set of NOS E21 turbine wheels for one thousand dollars when genuine Alpina wheels will only get maybe $500 more than that for a set of 13" wheels. Second.   Funny to have somebody who complains about people listing parts for high prices when they are looking for a part and complaining that they should be altruistic and help out a person in the community yet in this instance wish for this particular seller to get a high price for a part that is not high value in any sense in the current form. The hypocrisy is astounding.

What is "NOS"?

New Old Stock. It is an old part, not previously installed or used. NOS, however, is a separate characterization from condition: the condition of an NOS part can range from mint to unusable. Some things deteriorate just sitting on a shelf!

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
