Looks like a good deal to me!  esty, do you have a 2002 to replace it with? Technically not a faq question in my opinion.

Just wondering why after all this time and labor.

Steve, we do have other cars...our 76, the car that started the crazy, that we've owned since 78, ...a 76 choptop, created by Marc Zak (conkitchen), and a 72 + the 74....steve's tired of working on my cars and we don't drive them anymore, the worse thing you can do to an o2 is not drive them...the plan is to sell them all...i'll make the same deal on the 72 if anyone's interested...it starts and runs but has not been driven in 6-7 years...as soon as we get the new clutch slave and master on it will be operational

we also have an 83 e21 and an 87 325is cab

Oh wow, I’m sorry to hear this, actually.

That “chop top” is outrageous - what is the story on that?

How come you’re not driving them?  Just too many to get to?  I know I have to create reasons to drive my 02 - try to drive it every week because of what you say - sitting is bad.  Plus, of course it is great fun.

my husband and i are sadly afflicted with geriatrics and feel we have to act while we can still do the work...

i don't have the long story on the chop top...it was given to us by someone on the board who obtained it from a board member in California...i believe the builder did more than one chop top and has done one or more custom, modified o2's...maybe

I understand.  My Dad has a car that is starting to go this “hasn’t been driven in months and months” road.  We’re going to have to figure that out, and it won’t be super easy, I don’t think.

The chop top is great, and I’ve always wanted an E30 cab.  I guess I have a theme, there, lol.

buy it and i'll give you another 87 cab to go with it

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
