Spark plug plus this came out

Given that it has an o- ring, I'd go with the 'part of a compression tester' first,

 

and 'anti- fouler' later, as the anti- foulers usually have a metal gasket

and let the gasket of the plug seal on their body.

 

That plug looks wedged in there, not seated.  3/8" NPT, maybe?

+1.  Never seen an anti-fouler made out of brass and with a rubber o-ring seal.  They're steel with a compression gasket similar to what's found on a spark plug.  

 

I'm really surprised that your car was running on four cylinders, and that the o-ring wasn't all hard and cracked from the heat.

I hear you on the oring. It seems odd to have a fitting that has the same thread on both ends, a lot of compression testers don’t even have 14mm adapter because the hose is that thread already.
 

NPT is a noticeably different thread pitch but that wouldn’t stop some people from cranking a plug in there. 
 

Maybe it’s a short extension for a compression tester but I don’t see the point.

The backfiring been happening a lot since i put the Aluminium fly wheel in. I suspect the markings I put on the flywheel are most likely incorrect. Perhaps using the light on the pulley markers would be best. Thoughts. Also, I’m getting sick of these old PHH40 soles and fiddling with them all the time. I’m going to snap and order the Webbers and be done with it.. I just really like the original look of the solex.
