What's that old saying?  "A lousy day at the track still beats the best day working.."  ?

Great footage.  I love watching boxy little sedans passing 911 drivers!

I do to but it sure pisses them off. ?  John went on to finish 4th in the Feature Race in his MB. Wish I could have been there to help him stir the Porsche pot!

Thanks Ed. Unfortunately at our age we take more time to heal than it takes to fix the race cars.

Not good, but could have probably been worse.  Electric scooters, electric bikes, electric skateboards......truuuuuuuble, but that is just me as I am about to turn 60 and have lost a certain amount of coordination sorry to say.  Could just be increased alchohol intake during this past Covid year (just sayin).  The broken rack seems a bit weird.  All the suspension / steering bits take a beating on these cars - all metal (metal on metal), nu rubber + high speed, g-forces etc.,  It does make me wonder though if that bit hadn't been damaged somehow when the car was crashed so badly back in 2017.  It could be it all got put back together and then not run or tested....or damaged and this was its time to let go.  On the bright side at least you were able to feel it and get it off the track without damaging the car.  Glass half full guy here!

This was her Honda Ruckus. She hit a small washout and it caught the front wheel and tossed her off. She is doing much better but ribs take a long time to heal.

I had the same thought re the steering rack. I've sent an email to the former owner asking if he changed the rack after his shunt. No word back yet.

If its an e-21 rack, you can get those pretty easily off of fleabay and for not that much.  If it came from something else?  Who knows.  If it was an e-21 quick ratio rack - they can be had albeit expensive (usually), one listed on fleabay for $4k right now as a matter of fact.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
