I remember how happy I was to see it roll off the flat bed on day 1:

The engine bay scared my wife but she indulged me

After a few local trips to Ireland Engineering it was at least drivable:

But that didn't last long and project creep moved in HARD:

AND drove it up to Legends of the Autobahn to go to Doug Riperetti's BBQ

Years down the road it keeps evolving, after talking to Doug about "The Vintage" it made me want to go out with him but figured I wanted a little more hp's to drive across country so the pages turn to the next chapter:

I've owned more capable cars but this one has been one of the best "Smiles per Mile" car I've had and made more 02 friends than I can count which is invaluable

Plus more Cooling  More Brakes  More Suspension  and More Posi Traction   Not sure that intercooler is going to fit in the nose , but I would like to see somebody do this

BTY Congratulations for using your imagination and carrying out these modifications and motor swaps

Quite a transition from the typical of  just going with More Compression More Cam and More Carburetor

You would need a shop to modify or possibly install and tune any standard s2000 turbo kit.

My friend owns a Greddy turbo kitted s2000 he recommends (alphabetical) Ballade Sports Garden Grove, Evasive Motorsports Santa Fe Springs, Mid Valley Auto Canoga Park.

Change or modify only the issues that arise based on your driving experiences and 1 mod at a time.

Use the best proven parts (BMW or Honda) and simplify when you can.

Thanks for all your pictures.

My 13b rotary conversion required notched and heavily boxed passenger side frame rail to clear the turbo but that was where the K04 turbo and super nice proven cast exhaust manifold had to go for my power and reliability goals.

thanks, it currently has more:

Brakes

Cooling

Posi traction

Tuned ECU (Haltech)

fyi: your usual M10 build with more Cam, Compression, twin carbs and header would cost more than this swap with a 6 speed included ?

Information is king kind of like cash.

It would be really informative for others here if they knew even the rough cost of a Honda conversion or a M10 with current efi intercooled turbo or turboed M42 conversion or S14 transplant.

My rotary conversion costs are 21 years old. Purchased a totaled gen2 turbo2 rx7 that ran and shifted well for $1,200.00 and you can't do that any more...

Agreed I’m currently going down the path  of M10 with FI , Turbo and Haltech ECU   Not sure it’s the most economical plan but it’s sure to be fun

A clean EFI M10 will be a Total driving gamechanger, best of luck

$1200....? in todays prices that wont even get you a Good 245 5 speed.

But all joking aside, I built a Tii M10 4 years ago. Re-Grind cam, HD rockers, HD Springs, New Oil Pump, New cast pistons, Balanced, New Clutch. This is running at +$6,000 locally and I added a K-Fish Refresh +$$$, granted I Already had a 123 ignition and a Tri-Y header (+$800) and a Copper cored radiator ($350) so I'll call that at $7,500 in Bits without labor or 5 speed

M10 Stroker Long Block Fully built $8000 from a few locals

IMG_0236.JPG

Turbo M42 your initial core with 5 speed is decent priced but you get some High cost pretty fast, I'd be surprised if it could stay under $7k to be reliable, my friend Ken has one that was done very professionally and looks great AND has A/C.

IMG_6867.JPG

S14 transplant is Crazy high now, Core fee of about $13k, Rebuild +$8k, then you start your conversion so you could realistically call that at $35k when done with ALL of it, used selling at $65k - $85k @ 220hp-250hp

S2000 - F20c swap kit (240hp) Motor, Harness, ECU, Header, 6 Speed $5500-$6500, other bits $1500ish depending on how deep you want to go.

Also Transmission tunnel Modification, my local Fabricator charged me 2.5 hrs. labor.

You could easily spend more but this would be a drivable S2002

12.4 (8).JPG

Also, remember ANY of these HP upgrades should also have Upgraded Suspension, Upgraded Brakes, e30 LSD

I'm not saying it's for everyone but it is a real Viable option.

Real American dollar numbers?

A solid 02 ready for power upgrades improved brakes, suspension, drivetrain less engine 20-25k

A fresh built 2.0 m10 efi, intercooled turbo motor 15-25k (225 hp)

Fresh bored and stroked 2.0 M42 turbo intercooled 15-25k + 5k to put it in (275hp)

S14 conversion fresh motor 25-30k add a turbo and intercooler +15k + 5k to put it in (300hp)

Honda F20c fresh motor turbo and intercooler 10-15k + 5k to put it in (325 hp)

Real achievable rear wheel horsepower numbers

yeah, what he said?

I was talking about more N/A $#’s but if you want big turbo numbers I would think your most efficient way would be M20 turbo or F20c turbo to get stellar #’s with decent costs

This is the smartest transplant in the reciprocating world for the money and the purpose of my last post.

I applaud your efforts and those before you who chose this power plant, comparable weight and drive, very smart.

The Honda F20c is closest in lineage to the coveted M12 and comes with a 6 speed trans but the country of origin ruffles feathers. Your conversion looks very clean and you obviously continue to sort and improve your work.

The next accepted rule that needs to be trashed is the ceiling for manageable horsepower in a 2002 chassis.
