WTB Oil Pump Chain with masterlink

Was hoping the last Ireland restock was going to utilize a master link but unfortunately not. I still ordered as a back up... Blunt doesn’t have them and I just ordered another one from online that said it had a masterlink but it’s continuous. I’m kinda sick of wasting time on this and just wanna get the right part to get this project done.

 

Do any of you part hoarders have one you will part with?

They are unobtanium these days. I've been calling and reaching out to all vendors for the past 4-5 months

Why not just get a single roller chain master link ( there are many ones available, google it )   and take one link out of the chain so you can use the master link           Use to do this with the double row chains all the time. Worked with no problems      Just have to find the right master link

There is a reason they don't have a master link anymore it's a weak link literally. You don't need a master link, remove oil pump sprocket put chain on sprocket and reinstall sprocket.

Well unfortunately you would have to remove the frt cover, and the timing chain as well to replace an oil pump chain unless you already have the engine partially apart.     Replacing just a link allows you to put a new oil pump chain on without removing all that stuff    We did this at the dealership a number of times without any issues      Alfa.s run a link in their timing chains, have been that way forever.   MBenz sells links so you do the timing chain in their 8 cyl cars    I guess it depends on what you are comfortable with and how good you are at doing the job          I personally would not hesitate to do this but that is me

Even with the engine on a stand, this is not a small job at all. Multiple covers, worrying about damaging the head gasket, removing and replacing timing chain, working on tensioners, sealing everything back up. The master link chain makes it so easy if you already have the oil pan on. 

 

My sprocket looked good, so I just added one thick shim and changed the o-ring. Slack removed, job done. 

 

I did a line by line look at the entire IWIS catalog, looking for a longer master link chain I could just shorten with a chain breaker, but none of them matched up perfectly.

Ill keep looking for another week or so and then I guess ill just bite the bullet and go through the timing chain. Ill let you all know if I unearth a box of them to share ?
