Wolfgang is 52 today

Per the folks at BMW Classic, 4 Feb is Wolfgang's birthday.  The 40th "second series" '69 off the assembly line--these cars had to meet the Federal safety requirements that went into effect on 1 January 1969.  In addition they were fitted with the short-neck differential, different trunk lid torsion bar setup, a three speed heater blower, etc.

Earlier cars with two speed heaters had the side window defroster outlets plugged up because the blower wasn't powerful enough to defrost the windshield properly.  But someone neglected to tell the assembly line folks to quit plugging those outlets; I wondered for years why my side window defrosters didn't function until I found foam clogging the outlets.

I had that same issue with my '70, 1673695.

Happy birthday Wolfie!

I am restoring a 2nd series '69 car too.  I love that you have the original, painted hub caps!

I'm curious how you mounted your driving lights? I wanted mount mine through the grill, but as you probably know, we don't have the mounting points on the core support. ?

Also, what tires are you running?

Shawn--PM me and I'll send you a column I did on repainting the wheel covers, and how I mounted my driving lights.
