did you get that model in the states? Good luck, grab a bargain while you still can 🙂

No, we didn’t get the post-68 redesigned 1800 as far as I know, but I’ve seen quite a number of 1969 2000s here with the redesigned dash. I know they first redesigned the dash on the 1800 before incorporating the horizontal lights at about 1970. I like the redesigned dash, and I like the vertical tail lights and easier access to the trunk. I’ve seen a lot of NK cars in very good shape at the wrecking yards in Southern California 25 years ago. These cars were really cheap over here.

I agree Hoffman didn't bring in the last of the 1800 as the 69 2000 had a unique US/NA market VIN series and Hoffman sold around 750 of the 1100 or so built.  What I don't understand is the difference in the model codes below, what was the 3251 model code:

1800/69 LHD 3231 1900001 1928852 28852 7/68-1/71

1800A/69 LHD 3236 1120001 1121635 1635 7/68-3/71

1800/69 LHD 3251 3450001 3457625 7625 12/70-12/71

That last batch of "3251" cars should've been horizontal taillight rectangular headlight cars, basically a '69-up 2000 but with the 1800 motor.  My guess is that BMW used up all of the early pieces by then and/or it wasn't any cheaper to build the vertical taillight cars but needed something to fill in the gap until the E12 came out.
