DrA76
Can I use 2002tii pistons on non too block? With E12 head?
Conserv
Yes. There’s nothing special about a tii block, except for an oil drain hole for the Kugelfischer pump — which can be replicated on a “non-tii” block. But, yes, the pistons must be matched to the head, and an E12 head demands a piano-top piston, as you appear to have. Regards, Steve
DrA76
The new too piston is. a bit taller than the old one , about 0.5 mm is that ok?
AceAndrew
Yes, the higher pop up represents a bump in compression. Very common for any 2002 rebuild. As mentioned, not specific to tii.

(I admit - the more failed/crappy engine builds I take apart to fix (including wrong and/or poorly-specified pistons), the less patient I am with guesswork/speculation). -KB
tech71
Odd looking piston, #1 compression ring groove is higher up than the original and more distance between it and #2 compression ring groove. Lower skirt is also different looking. Aftermarket no doubt. What are they? Just curious. Edited December 26, 2020 by tech71
Son of Marty
Yes measure everything at least twice and write down the results, if you don't have the mic's rent them or borrow them anything else is just a guess.

Any idea what the CR would be with the Tii piston and a E12 head? Manual lists the Tii as 9.5:1 (or 9.0:1 for USA) with the E12 head, and also 10.0:1 for earlier models. Are there any specs on the height of the piano top to measure? I have always wondered if my CA '76 has 8.1 or 8.3:1. Mine are piano tops...but appear to be "baby grands".
