Recommendation on interior sourcing?

Recommended Posts

The good news is that my interior in the 1974 TII needs to be replaced because it’s sun baked rather than moldy, the bad news is that if you so much as look at it sideways it turns to dust.

Can  I ask for some recommendations on where to source the replacement seat covers and door panels etc.?

Thanks and VERY best wishes for a nice and safe Thanksgiving.

Theres World Upholstery and the one that starts with G ( I always forget the rest)

And then there's this guy on Ebay who sells both refurbished E21 Recaro's as well as 02 seat covers.

Are you considering an upgrade of your front seats to Recaro's ECT? Might actually cost less.

World Upholstery. GAHH is great but über-expensive. I've also heard from Paul Wegweiser that door panels should be available again soon from BMW...

I tried World Upholstery first and the seams were very inconsistent with some having a deep impression and others hardly any.  I sent them back and ordered from GAHH.  I love their quality and they look great.

How bad is bad for the door panels? I had amazing results cleaning mine up with GOOP.

esty is the way to go for carpets. Quality products, good fit with minor modification.

After investigating reupholstering my front seats and the cost, I chose to replace them with older, recovered Recaros. I kept the old seats for the next owner, but I love the fit and feel of the Recaros, as does my wife, believe it or not.

Good luck my friend.

Count your blessings that you have a squarelight--there's no source for the waffle-pattern center sections that's truly correct on roundie upholstery--hopefully someone will remedy that situation one of these days...

The good news for roundie owners is the upholstery on roundies is a lot better quality and lasts much longer than the material used on squarelights...

@NYNick - those are refinished E21 Recaro's, correct?

Correct. I"m trying to find the "before" pix. I bought them from a guy in NJ. Think I paid $400. Might have been $425. They hold me nicely when driving. Snug but not tight. I like 'em.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
