inspired by the "show us your old pictures" pin

I almost forgot, not a picture but old reference. Back in the 90's before Steve saved the 02 online presence, and even before roadfly a  small website back then, the page to go was bimmers.com

Don't know if ok to post here, the original is now defunct, still available in the wayback machine.

It is a good save https://tinyurl.com/y2vlqhmp

I bought and sold many a part through that site, I think I found my boranis there.

Lots of useful, and perhaps still relevant info.

before online sites we had this thing called printed media, I used to receive the The Mercury News, loved to read the classifieds and the Fry's ads.

If you are from the Bay Area, around my vintage, you know what Im talking about.

Roundel was more for info and great articles by Mike Self and Rob Siegel, CoCo mats, radar detectors, tire rack and new parts to be ordered by phone.

That was a cool site. Anyone remember an e-mail digest in the 90's? I think Chris Kent was the name?

Yep - the 2002 Digest was hosted by Chris Kent.

I forgot about Chris and the digest, and remember when the Roadfly site went live.  Ben's/Filippo's site was an incredible resource.  Bob Murphy and the tii newsletter also was a lot of help.  I miss the days when the Roundels were useful.  They were so useful, thanks to Mike, Rob and others like them, I bought the Roundels on DVD ROMs when they were available.  We've all reinvented the wheel three times over because all that great material has fallen out of the '02 consciousness.

Thanks to all who've taken the time to preserve it.

The paper catalogs used to get pretty worn out, as I recall. I remember:

Miller & Norburn

Bimmer Parts Co

Metric Mechanic

Others that don't come to mind at the moment...
