Anyone experience with the Weber k202 conversion kit?

I don't have experience with that kit, but for me, a 32-36 is a better solution.  There are plenty of threads in the archives where we've duked it out which is better, the 32-36 or 38-38.  If you're on the fence about that part, they might help you decide.

 

I appreciate the fuel economy and more gradual pedal feel with the smaller carb, but others love the peppy pedal with the big one.

 

I also appreciate the stock air cleaner.  The little one on your single barrel can be made to work and will be an improvement over the one in the kit.  The two barrel air cleaners are even better, especially if you can keep the domed intake intact when you install it.

 

You have the single barrel manifold already, so you could use the coolant section from the bottom of that on the one in the kit.  Or, you could buy a used stock manifold and open it up to match the ports in the underside of the carb.  It is a bigger job with the 38-38 than the 32-36.

There are cheaper alternatives like buying a new weber 32/36 and a used 2 barrel manifold but that kit looks pretty cool and bing bang, its all there in one box ready to install. Convenient.

I have purchased new weber 32/36 carbs but not a complete kit.

Do they sell a kit with a 32/36? its really all you need on a stock/ mild street engine.

$600, compared to $60 makes it a simple choice for me.  Spend the extra $500 on an AFR gauge and an advance-able timing light, if it is burning a hole in your pocket.  You'll still have money left to put ball bearings on the throttle shaft(s).

 

I like cleaning up old parts.  Bamboo skewers make great scrubbers for the nooks and crannies.  Sharpen them into little wooden chisels and go to town.  Twist a little fine steel wool onto the end and you've got a carburetor Q-tip.  Smash the end and it makes a little bamboo brush out of it. 

 

My progressive pedal is plenty peppy, if I push it just a little farther.  I like finding the secondary tip in point.  The AFR gauge makes that obvious.

 

 Differnt fun for everyone.  :)

I will second the run a 32/36. I was never super happy with my 38 on an engine with a cam and compression. Cruise tuning was never very good on it.
