Knee trim fasteners

Recommended Posts

Hi All. I am looking to purchase new knee trim fasteners and cap nuts for when I get my car back from the paint shop. As best I can tell from Realoem, the part number is 51131816046 and I need 8 of them. Trouble is the picture REaloem provides shows the part below, doesn't look like the ones that were in there before removal, also shown below. Any info on this from your experience? Also, is 8 the right number I need for the knee molding?

Great Thanks,

Scott

Also, I believe there might be 2 clips for areas that you might not be able to access behind it for nuts but I’m not sure which holes specifically. It might be obvious though when installing the trim.

those clips are for the end of the moulding and not used in the center...an H shaped clip that snaps in the holes

clips

that's not the exact clip for our cars, only a picture for reference to shape...the clips for our cars have a push pin in the center that spreads the barbs on the clip once on the panels

iirc, that site i linked to is where i bought all of the clips and fasteners the last time i needed them

here's a set on ebay too...02 clips

and more clips

When installing the plastic clips, especially into newly painted panels, put a little dab of silicone grease on the barbed end before pushing in.  That'll help prevent that new, soft paint from chipping or flaking away, causing a nascent hidden rust spot on your shiny new paint job.
