Description:

I have been lurking here on the FAQ for a couple of months now in search of a '02 project, and also to learn all I can about these cars in preparation for when I find one. I have been posting some of my CL, eBay, other online finds for feedback, and also to share in the classifieds finds that might be of interest to other members. This board is definitely a great resource, and I'm very appreciative for all of the input thus far. So while I've had some leads, I've still not found that right '02, so I'm throwing the official "WTB" post out there. Some details on what I would be interested in:

  • 1600 / 1602 / 2002 / 2002 tii all OK
  • Not tied to a year - '67 to '76 all considered
  • Want a 4 or 5 spd manual, but would consider the right condition automatic (for later conversion)
  • Sunroof unimportant, with or without OK
  • No surprise, as everyone always is, looking for a minimal rust car. I've been looking at western / southern cars to try and maximize my chances. I have no issue buying remotely and arranging shipping if the seller is willing to work with me.
  • Not looking for $15-20k+ cars that are already completely restored

Any leads on cars / projects that might be available would be much appreciated. Either post here or PM me if that would be preferred.

Thanks,

Craig in PA

Thanks for the heads up Maj, that one came up in my alerts this morning. Agree, looks good from the limited pics. I contacted the owner earlier looking for more info, and to see if they would be willing to ship if all checked out. I'll report back what I find out.

  • 2 weeks later...

Looks like a nice '76 Jamisong, probably going to be above my $12k budget though. Issue I am seeing currently is the transportation costs to get a car back east have been getting a little out of hand. Have gotten some uShip quotes for transporting from CA to PA, uShip shows $1100 to $1500 average paid, I've gotten nothing below $2200, some as high as $2700. Seems like COVID is causing some issues for the drivers, so they are asking significantly more to transport. Also seems like very few companies are bidding, so less competition.
