1974 tii resurrection continued, Sunroof findings

Previously I had posted some photos of the sunroof installed in the 1974 tii I am working on it.  It is pretty clearly an aftermarket job, based on the headliner.  It is electric.

I was able to do enough digging to figure out how to remove the head liner from the sliding panel, and then the sliding panel.  I found that one of the "carriers" has broken, so parts will need to be sourced to get it operational again, though the cables themselves may be ok.

Most interesting to me is that I was able to find that it is a Golde brand.  The only numbers I found are on the black rubber that was attached to the headliner panel- 464 484 607 and the metal panel 100 414 004 (maybe...)

There are 4 (!) drains installed, one to each door jamb a to each rear wheel arch.

For now I plan on just getting the roof panel secured in place (without the caulk that was previously present,) as I try to get the car to "driver" status.

Quick question!  Do you know if previous year sunroofs fit in the 1974 Tii?  About to embark on a full on restoration with my son and wondered if I should pick up a better shape sunroof that is for sale in my town?

I don't know if there were changes year to year in the factory sunroof, but others will.  My guess is that if you measured or made a template of the metal panel and it matched the unit in better shape it would be a match.  If the seller has all the associated hardware (cables etc,) defiantly pick those up to as they are getting hard to find.

Good luck on the restoration!

The factory Golde sunroof was virtually unchanged from 1966 through 1976. There might have been some “refinements” to the mechanism — generally less expensive solutions to the original goals — but the size and basic components are the same.
