Reassembly of windshield wiper mechanism

Apologies in advance for the rather long post.

I am in the process of re-installing the wiper mechanism on my '73 tii after a re-spray.  It was removed and replaced by the PO during the last re-spray of the car in 1990, and I'm not sure all the parts made it back onto the car at that time.  So I'm working with the parts that came off the car when it was disassembled this time.  What I'm trying to figure out is what parts I'm actually missing and exactly what order does everything go back together in.

I'm using a very old copy of the Haynes manual as a guide.  What I have on hand now as shown in the diagram below are the outer hex nuts (#12), the outer cupped washers (#13), the outer lock washers (14), the inner cupped washers (15) the inner hex nuts and the inner lock washers (14 again).

Here is the order I've laid them out in for reassembly, with the assumption that the motor mount bracket and cowl sheet metal go somewhere between the washer:

On the pivot rod, I think it should look something like this:

I thought I had this pretty well figured out until I check the real oem diagram below.  What I'm confused about it is that this diagram shows some at least one parts that isnot in the Haynes diagram, that I think I'm missing, namely the "ring" (#12).  It also shows a different part number for the another hex nut that I'm not sure was ever on my car.  There also seems to be some leftover rubber debris on the inside of the outer cupped washer, so I think there may be a rubber washer of some kind missing there too?

I want to reassemble this correctly so everything mounts and stays put like it's supposed to.  So if anyone can set me straight on how all the pieces go together in order, and if I do need to source anything I'm missing, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Crash

Please take a look at the wiper assembly refurbishment thread in the articles under construction.

Thanks, Jim!  I searched before posting and found some good tidbits, but missed that string completely in the under construction zone.  I have to go thru the whole string, but it looks like it will answer my questions. ?

From your pictures, it appears that you're missing the black rubber gasket (perhaps that's the "ring" in the parts book?) that goes between the chrome washer on the exterior of the car and the body--keeps the washer from digging into the paint.  I was able to find perfect matches for my old washers at my local hardware store.

And if your chrome nut and washer are rusty, turn 'em over before installing and use the side that's been protected for the past 40 or so years...

Thanks Paul!  I actually ordered two of those from Roger last Friday. I'll post an update when I get everything together.
