BMW 2002 in the new Laurel Canyon Documentary

I was watching this documentary today with Mary when I was startled by the sight of a 2002 just to the side of CSN during the photo shoot for their famous album cover shot on the porch of a dilapidated house that was promptly bulldozed days later.  Who's 2002 was it??

CA black plates? We’re not far from being able to read the plate number. No rear panel reflectors, no sidemarkers (I think), no head rests, so probably manufactured before January 1, 1969. The rear badge appears to say “1600”. The BMW Roundel and the rear badge are below the trim molding that runs between the taillights, so I’d guess 1968 calendar year. Thus, perhaps a 1968, or early 1969 1600-2, in a darker color, e.g., Granada...

The album was released in 1969, so that car is no more than a year or so old.

Thanks for posting!

Best regards,

02's were very popular among that crowd at that time. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was one of theirs,.
