Stickshift housing question

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow 02 enthusiasts,

I have a question on the stick shift housing, mine broke and I would like to know what's the best way to fix it.  I have a 1974 1602 (European specs) and the housing supporting the stick shift broke a few months back.  When I removed it I saw that it was held together by two welds. (see pictures).  Question, are these factory welds or did someone repair it at some point the past?  I've had the car for around 10 years and it's the second transmission.

Kinda look factory but it's not a great shot of the actual weld anyway as Mike said any weld shop will be able to fix that.Ether way that weld has piss poor penetration

My spares look just like yours, except the welds haven't broken...yet.
