Front Indicator Wiring / grommet

Recommended Posts

Hey all. Cleaning up and putting new seals on my front indicator units. POs have really done some crazy wiring in my car over the years so as I do each job I’m trying to tidy things up. I see there should be a grommet on each side (which I need to order) 087D86FF-99B9-4B9B-957D-FDC65849EC0F.jpeg.... what I can’t see on any pictures of diagrams is where does them grommet go to?? I assume it’s from one of the holes under the unit. Where does it then go to?

Thanks

Here's what I've seen:

The two wires to the indicator slide through a drain hose/tube. It has a grommet at the top, and the other end fits though a hole which is accessed behind the headlight bucket. Part number 63138654175

On an early (69), mostly-original car, I found a grommet with a built-in drain (looked sorta-like a hat), which fit in the second hole. Unable to find the grommet-drain, I've been using this in restorations.

wow interesting. So there would have been 4 hoses? Two for the wires and two for drainage?

I don't have the car near so I can check, but IIRC my Feb '69 2002 only has a single hole on each side for the wires to pass through a grommet on their way to the turn signal.  However, my '73 has the second pair, presumably for drains/air circulation--and much longer than the wire grommet.  Unfortunately the drain grommet's lip would allow 2-3 mm of standing water to accumulate before the drain function would work.  Go figure...  Kinda like the drain holes in the lower spring perch on the front struts...
