Hello!

Some months ago I bought a bmw 1800ti. After giving some love and working on the car  I realized that it had EVERYTHING the ti/sa models came with, the only diference is the vin, it starts with 14........(dont remeber exactly) as many other left hand drive ti´s whereas ti/sa models came with 995001 to 200 range right?. My question is, does anyone known if there were any ti/sa´s built apart from the 200 known. The car has the special 5 speed getrag gearbox, ti/sa cylinder head, weber 45´s, long red velocity stacks, speedo, seats, steering wheel, fuel tank, brake discs, it even has the tisa spare wheel, the color is the same light grey, and what it seems to be an agressive cam with a strange (AE1) stamp. Just wanted to know if anyone knew something or had more information of what it could be, I wont be offended if it isnt a ti/sa ?

UPDATE: Today I contacted bmw and got this information

"The VIN you provided belongs to a BMW 1800 TI (not a "TISA") that was manufactured on November 17th, 1965 and delivered on March 14th, 1966 to the BMW dealer Burkard Bovensiepen KG in Kaufbeuren. The original colour was Bristol, paint code 058.
For more info you might ask the archives of Alpina if they have something on the car: classic@alpina.de
"

Aparently it is not a tisa ?, but current paint matches factory.

After that I contacted Alpina and this is what they could provide:

"we can confirm that this 1800Ti, Color Bristol, was delivered to Kaufbeuren in 1965. It was one of the first cars that arrived there.
Unfortunately we don't have any more information."

Could it be some kind of alpina unit or maybe it was there, where the car was "built/prepped" as a tisa? What do you guys think? Maybe that explains why it has a tisa motor, weber 45´s, the special getrag, the big fuel tank, seat, tach, etc.

Anyways I´m very thankfull to bmw and alpina for providing this info.?

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
