Looking to sell 71 2002

Hello,

This is my 1971 bmw 2002. I never thought I would be saying this, but I am looking to sell. I am reaching out to the people that know these cars the best.

I know some are going to say "you ruined it" and some are going to say "looks awesome".

I'm just looking for thoughts on what she would be worth.

I bought the car in 2006 from a man across the street from my home for $500.  There were zero modifications done to car. The only thing needed was the differential replaced.  So I replaced the differential and immediately went to town modifying a some what reasonable nice 1971 2002.

The work completed consist of sheetmetal all around the lower half. Bagged rearend, fenders flared in rear for clearance,  homemade turbo headers for blow through turbo, cam, heavy duty rockers, modified intake manifold to recieve a holley 350 carbruator, 3" stainless exhaust, Volvo front big brake modifications and suicide doors with shaved handles, tucked headlights with simple grill, plus many more littles things here and there.

I completed this work in the early stages of my fabrication skills to current. So some things could be gone back over again. You wont see any high end parts on it.  I used what I had access to and and handmade everything else.

Long story short, whole lotta time and lil money turned into this.  So, what do you think shes worth? Thanks

It's worth what you can sell it for; going to have to find the right buyer.  A video showing how well it starts, runs, drives would probably help.

In the mean time, how about some more pictures...

Your under-hood fabrication is top notch--very clean and well thought out.  How do you keep paint on the hood with that turbo so close?

Bodywork is first rate too.

Not what a "purist" would buy, but there are a lotta 02ers out there who aren't purists!

Someone is gonna want it bad(ly).

There is a taste for every '02. This is not my taste. But it, obviously, appeals to other members here. It will find a buyer and make the next "caretaker" happy!

But, let's say I wander off the range, and buy this, and I want to check the oil or the coolant level. Do I need to find a buddy to pull off the hood? That's not going to fit my lifestyle! ?

GLWS,

Steve

The 2002 badge and its placement were the first things I saw.  Hmmm...

At first sight, nothing about this car's presentation appears to be original...and then...that badge and it's exceedingly unusual/unoriginal placement.  Cool.  I like that old touch on this car.  Eyes of '02 owners are likely to go straight to it, and, of course, form an opinion.

Price?  Between $5,000 and $50,000.  I know that answer is not very informative.  I suggest your following irdave's aforementioned advice.

Interesting!  I was going to say the range was from $2,000 (parts car) to $100,000 (brilliant resto-mod).... but I believe your range is more accurate!

Best regards,

Steve

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
