Price: $7000
Location: Petaluma, California. North Bay Bavarian auto shop.

Description:

Hello,

Please read the add carefully before responding or contacting me, thank you.

I'm parting out my '92 E30 MTechnic project that I will never finish due to moving abroad. I know you guys like your M20 swaps! All NEW parts, purchased by me, unless I note otherwise.

10% deposit to hold parts, the rest due before shipping, or upon collection from North Bay Bavarian in Petaluma, California. The shop can assist with shipping. They could also complete the swap for you (dependent on their schedule).

I will not part out these packages! You may have option 1 or 2, or both together.

1) RHD ITB kit with carbon plenum, plugnplay MS2 for E30, F50 coils, autotune ignitors, 2 different Wide Bands, alloy catch can, refurbished S52 Pink Top injectors. This is a complete kit to convert an M20 to ITBs. It is not tuned, but I can assist you in finding a base tune to get you started, the owner base for the RHD ITB kit is very friendly and helpful. -$2,300

2) The COMPLETE, NEW, 2.9L M20 swap, 85 Bore x 84 stroke ~10:1 Compression, fully forged. Built by Bimmerheads in LA in 2016. Available after the Christmas holiday. $7000
-This does NOT include the RHD ITB kit or parts associated with that kit.

The engine was built for N/A use with the ITB kit, but can easily be turbo'd. My original intention was ITBs for normal use, with a 150shot of nitrous for Wednesday night Drags at Sonoma Raceway. High comp fully forged fun :)

Includes:
-Radiator to the tail of the transmission. Missing intake parts, distributor, and ECU. All hoses, oil cooler, HD clutch kit, DSSR shift linkage, belts, used radiator, used engine harness, used transmission, all ancillaries (used but cleaned up) etc is included. If it's related to getting the engine running and shifting, it's yours. I also have ceramic coated Ireland Engineering long tube headers but I don't know if they will fit in an '02? Transmission is the original Getrag 260 from the 325ic '92 E30 convertible.

Edit: Clutch is a Sachs 618 HD pressure plate, lightened stock flywheel, and OEM Organic disk. This is not a cheap combination.

Bottom End:

Integrated Engineering Tuscan I-Beam rifle-drilled rods, 135mm

Mahle Ultimate street 2.9 pistons, 85mm bore

Ishara Johnson Teflon crank scraper

ARP head studs

OEM crank bolts

OEM bearings

M52 crank

Crank sleeve for the oil seal

Rebuilt oil pump

Head:
The only thing that was re-used was the oil spray bar, valve retainers, and bare BMW (not AMC) head. The head was lightly ported, and polished on the exhaust side. Combustion chambers have also been polished.
Supertech valves (stock size)
Beehive dual stock springs
Irland Engineering HD rockers
272 New Billet Ireland Engineering cam

New rocker shafts (Ireland Engineering)

VAC cam gear
All valve guides replaced
Gates Racing timing belt

Block-off plate to replace distributor for Wasted Spark
Powder coated black valve cover

$7000usd

10% deposit to hold parts. The balance will be due before shipping, or upon collection. This will give you time to get the cash together. North Bay Bavarian can assist with shipping. They can also complete the swap for you (dependent on their schedule and pricing).

Thank you for reading the add carefully. Please contact me with further questions,

Happy Motoring,
James Darley

From the M20 Conversion for Dummies thread:

Transmission/Driveline

• Getrag 260 from an E30 325i or 325e

• E30 325i or 325e shift linkage, preferably the earlier platform style vs aluminum rod version

• Slave cylinder for Getrag 260

• M10 228mm or 88-91 E30 325i “singlemass” flywheel

• 88-91 E30 325i Clutch kit

• Manual transmission driveshaft from E30 325i or e(*note below)

• 22” clutch cable with 2 male M10x1.0 fittings

• 325i or 325e transmission mounts (2)

I can include all of the needed E30 bits apart from the earlier style shift linkage, and the custom clutch cable. Easy 1 stop shop for a killer M20 powered '02.

In case anyone was asking, these are the pistons I developed with Mahle Motorsport to be the best possible option for a street stroker M20.  There is nothing better for street performance.  Shant at Bimmerheads is a great engine assembler with a log of experience putting this combo together.  A very close replica to my motor, should be an absolute blast for whomever get's it up and going.  At 7k, this is an extremely good deal.

Thank you for the kind words, as you said, this is a very good deal for the right person. As a package with the ITBs, you will get wonderful 6 cylinder sounds and should be able to pull away from most S14 swapped '02s. Much better torque manners for the street as well.

(If you can't pull away from the modded 2.5 S14 cars, I suggest a small nitrous kit. I used fully forged I-Beam rods in the build so I wouldn't be limited going forwards. Stock head gasket is the safety buffer, with ARP studs for easy replacement).

Thanks for looking,
James Darley

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
