Speedometer Calibration

Hey, Folks.

At Vintage last spring, I met a guy who specializes in speedometer calibration, but can't find his card now. He's definitely in the east somewhere, maybe someone out there can help me remember - or recommend someone who did a good job repairing your gauge cluster / re-calibrated your speedometer.

Thanks, and Happy Holidays!

I messed around with my speedo, in and out of the car quite a few times and never got it working right.  Finally took it to Pauls' Speedometer near my home in Redondo Beach. I walk in one morning, little one stall shop with BMW racing posters and memorabilia all over the walls. The gentleman behind the counter says his name is Gary Auberlen, and coincidentally he was working on someone else's 2002 Speedo. He tells me to bring mine in so that afternoon I drop it off, he gives me nothing in writing, no estimate, just says come back tomorrow morning and it will be done.  Next morning, I stop by and its finished and calibrated. He even soldered up one of the connections he said looked bad.  I think I paid him around $70 cash.  I'm quite sure he has no website or credit card machine, but he does have a son named Bill Auberlen.

I love guys like that, I knew a few when I lived out East.  Vancouver isn't that sort of town, at least when it comes to cars.
