Replacement Radiator

Need to replace my (OEM) radiator .. it developed seeps along the top edge. Kormann has a bolt on aluminum one for $500. Ebay offers several Aluminum aftermarket units .. one, two and three row for about half that money. Some they state will not work with the mechanical fan. Putting another OEM radiator in there doesn't appeal, this one never worked that well in stop and go, although it was just fine on the open road. I don't want to drill any new holes in my car. Anyone have a recommendation?

Most US suppliers don't recognize the turbo model as it was never sold here. Can you recommend a couple of websites that do carry the Turbo parts?

Walloth & Nesch have new Turbo radiators listed.  €500.  If you are having cooling issues with a turbo radiator something else is wrong.  I can drive mine anywhere on a 100 deg F  day and it never goes above the 80 deg C (180 deg F) thermostat rating,  even if I'm flogging it or sitting in traffic.

I bought an Al radiator specifically sized for the turbo from an outfit in Canada. I will have my original radiator recored when I get it out and keep it with the car.

Rogers has the OEM part in the USA if anyone else is in need.

Now just need to find the elusive exhaust manifold .. mine has a repaired crack and seems to be holding up but good to have a backup.

Thanks all,

Blunt has a very OEM looking radiator that is advertised as 25% higher capacity than stock (also cheaper). I like the beautiful all aluminum numbers available at Ireland and Midnight Motorsport, but this one has a stock look which also appeals to me.

Well sometimes I learn the hard way. The Blunttech radiator will NOT fit the turbo, it's too narrow. Ditto, I presume, any stock 2002 radiator. Since I was out of circulation due to health for some time, I did not discover this until some months after I received it, and they won't take it back either. So if anyone wants a (German) Blunttech hi cap radiator, I have one for sale.

You have to order the TURBO radiator,  they are wider.  And still available.

+1. Available from your dealer with proof of Turbo ownership or from rogerstii.com

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
