Brake Rotors...Doubled in price??

I have the e21/Volvo brake upgrade on my car.  I did the upgrade 8 years ago and I planned on refreshing the brakes soon.  Pulled up my 02 expense spreadsheet and Drilled/Slotted vented e21 rotors cost me $132 a pair.  Now...$120 each??  Do I just need to bite the bullet or can I find them more reasonably priced somewhere.  Not gonna buy those cheap ebay rotors....

Save your money and get them unslotted and undrilled for $ 17.46.

 

They'll last longer, too.

 

The vented 320 rotor is very understressed even on my race car...

Haha.  True.  Just getting grumpy in my old age.   
 

And Toby I know those slots and holes have absolutely zero benefit on my car I just liked the way they looked lol.  Are u vouching for those rockauto rotors?

brings up a question....has anyone been successful in cutting these aftermarket rotors when changing pads?

73 Tii stock build, Porsche Macan   , E46 330i Florida driver, 

….and like most of us, way too many (maybe 30 at last count) I wish I hadn't sold ?

I think pretty much all aftermarket rotors are Centric nowadays. Over on the early 911 forum somebody tracked down that even the Ate variety are made by the same Centric supplier. I use them on the 911S and here too

I've been using the E30 Centric rotors.  

They are not awesome- but like Mike says,

they all seem to perform pretty identically. 

Except the Brembos, which crack.

 

So I would use the Centrics. 

 

As to refacing- yes, with the E21 rotor, you could.  They're relatively stout.

I've never seen much point in that, tho- they are already

nearly at minimum design thickness, they're cheap, and

if a rotor warps, it usually KEEPS warping with more heat

cycles.  Back when a rotor was the size of a minibus and

was an entire hub/brake casting, it might have made some sense.

With a removable rotor, it's quicker, easier and even cheaper to just swap it.
