Favorite tire brand/size and why?

Currently looking for new tires for my 2002 as it came with E30’s bottle cap style rims. Unfortunately it has Michelin195/65/14 tires with almost brand new tread but however the sidewall is cracking on all four tires and they’re from 2011.

Im curious to see what tires you all run and how your results were? But please don’t bring up tires that don’t exist as some tires are nearly impossible to come up with.

Also these are the tires I’ve looked at and if you have any suggestions to me that would be great!

Federal 195 60 14 ss595 (cheap and seem to be fairly good but are Summer tires and not sure how they would do in the spring/fall) however they seem to be really gripy.

Different tire size 185/65/14 but seems to be more tire options.

-Cooper evolution

-Michelin defenders

-Toyo extensa

There are a ton of other tires out there so any suggestions would great! I don’t plan to drive it in the rain however don’t want to feel like I couldn’t get home if I was caught in a rain storm. I also would like know I can drive well in the fall/spring/winter. No snow.

I have 195/50x15 , I know there not 14's but these might come in your size.

Dunlop Direzza,Bridgestone Potenza, Toyo Proxes, Yokohama Advan AO52.

Mine came with 15" and after looking at other sizes decided to stay with 15"

because of so many more options  . Good luck with it.

I wish I had 15x7 rims on my car but that’ll be a future upgrade as some of the choices I like don’t come cheap. Unfortunately that size doesn’t really come at 14in. That size however does start in 15inch rims. Thank you for the suggestion though!

195/50/14 Falken Azenis. $100 each on sale. Sticky trackable tires for summer performance. Best bang for your buck!!!!!

Do you by any chance mean a ratio of 60? The reason I ask is bc I don’t see anyone that carries a ratio of 50 on a 14 inch rim. How do you feel they do in colder weather? That’s if you even live in a climate for that to be tested? Thanks for the suggestion though!

Geez, another opportunity to post this picture.  Greatest tire in the world.  Well, not really but they are super cool and not too expensive. Brandnew/vintage tires.

Pirelli CN36 available in 14" from Longstone Tyres, England.  Free shipping worldwide.

Search this forum for "Pirelli CN36" to find US dealers as well, but Longstone is still slightly cheaper, I believe.

Unfortunately they only make a 185/70/14 or a 205/70/14 and both of them are way too tall for a 2002.  The 185/70/14 is 24.17" diameter and the 205/70/14 is 25.47".  Your 185/70/13 is 23.11" diameter.

Those will only fit on a totally stock suspension

And I'm with Paul,  I have a set of 185/70/13 CN36 on my Turbo and love them.  I remember them from the '70's when I sold a ton of them they work great and they look totally period correct.

In the past few years, the selection of available tires in 195/60-14 has significantly decreased. I'm partial to Yoko S Drives but Yokohama has stopped making S Drives in 195/50-15 so I'll soon be looking for an alternative tire next spring.   I'm currently running this Yoko tire size on a 15X7 ET25 Centra type 11 wheel.    Before you spend any money on tires and wheels, spend some time in this thread from those of us who have been there, done that in regards to tire/wheel upgrades.  https://www.bmw2002faq.com/forums/topic/142446-tires-and-wheelrims-fitment-guide/

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
