Current Seller uses all pics from previous Ebay auction when the car was in VA (maybe it's still in VA?). Price seems to have escalated somewhat.

I struck proverbial gold in May 10 of 2010 when this 1973 Tii was on ebay. Drove close to 90K miles from may 2010 to September 18, 2018 when Vern was fully restored and the engine rebuilt.

My criteria:

1.1973 Tii

2 Sunroof

3 Malaga/Tan

4. Correct nose

5. Little to no rust, clean as possible.

6. Turnkey, not a basket case. (no red flag deal breakers.)

What I bought:

1. 1973 Tii

2. Sunroof

3. Verona/Tan

4. Correct nose

5. Little to no rust, very clean, this Tii pushed all the right buttons

6. 5-speed & new clutch

7. $2K in spare parts

8. Epic 3,100 mile road trip.

Struck gold is about right

i don’t think there are any “rust-Free” original o2’s left.

it took me 6 years to find my 1972 o2

I had no budget and traveled across the nation 4x’s

6 years?? wow! Hopefully it doesn't take me that long :)

But I'm not surprised about traveling across the country 4 times. I've seen a couple of cars in person, and it's definitely worth the trip to go and see them. Initially I was thinking "well, I'll just pay for a ppi" but now I've learned that seeing them in person is so critical.

Nope. Just thought I'd keep sharing what I find on the West coast for you. What part of Ohio are you in? There's a great 02 club out there called the Rivertown Gear Busters. Suggest you try to reach out on the FAQ if you haven't already done so.

BTW, mine is being restored:

1973 Mintgrun 2002 "Kermit" (sold)

Ah thanks for the tip! I’m going to go check an 02 this coming weekend, so if that sale doesn’t materialize, I’ll definitely check that CA one.

I live in Columbus and I wasn’t aware of that club! I’ll definitely check them out as well! Thanks
Any luck with your quest?
Not on your color list, but if you want a solid roundie driver for a decent price point, there is this one in VA

I actually just took the plunge on one and I'm currently working the details to get it shipped. Thanks for the offer though!

Can wait for my 02 to arrive so I can start playing with it!

I just marked this post as sold to clear things up.

@javi_gutierrez please share pics and post and introduction when you receive your car. And make sure to reach out to the Rivertown Gear Busters.

Congrats.

Will do! Should I post it here? Or on a different area?

Javi,

Now that you have the car, you should either start a blog for it — on this forum — or start a new thread for it, introducing it to us/us to it!

And then we’ll give you great ideas about how and where you can spend more money on it... ??

Best regards,

Steve

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
