Oh dude.  My wife and I have an understanding; she's good at breaking things and I'm good at fixing things.

And since I have the engineering degree and she doesn't, when I break something I'm finding the limitations of the system- when she does it she's just breaking things.

I think you meant to say "Dudette".....

There's no such thing as dude-ette

Everything is dude. "He's a dude, she's a dude, we're all dudes"

Can also go the pro-wrestling route. "Hey there Brother!" or "Hey there Sister!"

So Politically “Dude” is Gender Neutral?

🤣👆

But, as to plugwires I sourced  A set of rubber insulated clamps from my local hardware store in the electrical section to hold the plug wires

Bosch wires... suck.  Suckitty suck suck suck.

I posted this back before the FAQ was born ([email protected]) but that's kind of hard to search...

The Bosch design is antique.  The spark plug ends are removable- just unscrew them at the plug end.

The spike inside is threaded.  If they come apart, flush- trim them with a razor blade

or similar- take 1/4" or more off- and rethread them back onto the wires.  It's smart to get 'em

started, then unthread 'em and look at the wire end

to make sure the spike's going into the carbon center.  Otherwise, they'll

work, sort of, but not well.

This threaded connection makes them a maintenance item- it's wise to check them

whenever you remove the plug wire, and trim and re- terminate every so often, as the

carbon breaks down where the spike jams itself into the wire end.

This is made worse by modern materials- Bosch switched to a silicone jacket,

but left the spike design.  The silicone's much softer, so it doesn't grip the

spike as well.

It's also made much worse by not using a heat shield,

and by leaving the wires unsupported, as noted above.

Tom's insulated clips are better than factory- the wire shouldn't be able to move inside the clip.

If you want to keep the factory look, just bend the clip a little so it squeezes the wire a bit.

Beru often used Bosch ends, or ends of the same design.

I too use Accel wires for an AMC V8.  They cost less, and have held up better.

I hesitate to say it, but it's not the car's fault that the plug wires fell apart.  It rolled its

eyes and said 'Oh, not THOSE again' when you put them on!  ;)

I was reading a particularly wretched book about some racing driver in the bathtub.

The puff-pastry teabag writing it used the phrase 'and the car disgraced itself again'-

so I dropped the book into the tub.

The library was not very understanding about this...

Absolutely.

Even for people that identify as a toaster.

I like the Accel high perf universal wire kits.  They're cheap.  You can get them in various colors, cut them to whatever length you want, crimp them yourself, and they fit tight on the plugs.  If you buy a kit for an 8 cylinder, you have enough to do two sets.
Same. Still on my first 1/2 a set 8 years in
