Thanks, that should help.   No, it still hasn't started yet, but I haven't been to the car in a few days.  Will be going next weekend for a thrash session, adjust valve, vc gasket, brakes, diagnose no start, alloys, few other goodies

Gotta say, as a car person coming from a lot of other forums, it's kind of stupid you guys don't have an organized FAQ.  I mean....for comparison, here's my UrS6 Faq:

You guys need something like this, it makes finding information WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY easier.

2 days here and calling us "stupid" lol.

Like you haven’t heard that before ???

When the cable pulls on that nice shinny cad plated lever arm, it uses that crusty, rusty cross piece for fulcrum.  In that crusty cross piece is a spring that is not shown in the photo except for its end sticking thru the hole in the shoes.  It pulls the shoes inward and the shinny arm retracts.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

  • 1 year later...

Alright gents, time to get back on this thing.   Fuel flow is very weak, car is hard to start.   Suspecting fuel lines....   does anyone know the specs of the primary fuel lines from the tank to the carb?  What size?  And how many feet I need?

TIA, going to search the forums to see if this info is already on here.

As far as your blinker issue is concerned, always have somebody looking at the blinkers when trying to diagnose the problem.

"Is it working now?"

"Yes.  No.  Yes.  No.  Yes.  No."  :D

I recently installed the NAPA EL13 flasher and love how audible the clicking is.  I left it dangling down under the dash so I can look at it and smile.

We discussed fuel line in this recent thread.  The biggest/most obvious problem shows right there in the photo caption below.  (The missing plastic sleeve on the tank sender nipple).

Update:

My hard start problem has been solved.
I want thank everyone, especially Tom who have spent so much time in helping me fixed the problem.

Tom, I took your advice and  replaced all the fuel lines with new hoses. I can now see fuel in the plastic line in trunk which I didn’t see before. And it started right up at the first turn of the key.

Thanks again and my best regards

Randy

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
