Rubber floor mats

Carson

Recommended Posts

Hey. I’m looking for rubber all weather floor mats for my 1976 bmw 2002. Every time I search for them either it pulls up the year 2002 bmw or carpet material floor mats. If anyone knows of a different car’s floor mats that will fit a 2002 or if there’s a site somewhere, that would be very helpful. Thank you

I believe BMW still offers "factory" mats for the 02, just contact your reseller (for example Steve @ Blunt, Paul @ Maximillan).

Cocomats (www.cocomats.com) and also an option.

In the past I've cut out a shape from carpet remnants "back in the day".

Below, from a 1972 U.S. dealer accessories brochure, are the original OEM ‘02 rubber floor mats: rare back in the day and rarer now. Is anyone repro’ing these?

Regards,

Steve

Those are the holy grail of rubber floor mats.  I remember seeing a set in one of Peter "Coupeking" tiis back in the day at Laguna Seca.  Would be awesome if someone reproduced those.

Bought a cheap set of Amazon basic mats for about $25. The rears fit perfectly. The front driver took a bit of trimming but seems to do the job. Had to cut a chunk out for our wonderful pedals. Not even close to  Coco mat custom appearance, but looks passable and keeps the Oregon rain and mud off the carpet. If I begin to hate them, I am only out $25.

Loose: Not tightly bound. Subject to motion.
Lose: What happens when you are spell check dependent.

1975 Malaga. It is rusty but runs. Just like me.

...How great would it be if we could get them in Black, Saddle or Blue??

Great, no doubt. But I’d be happy for a set in the original gray!

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
