Pulling the carpet was disappointing for me.  "A little hole by the pedal box" said the seller. 

 

He was telling the truth, but the Truth, the Whole Truth and nothing but the TRUTH became apparent, once the carpet and sound deadening had been removed.

 

I had to patch the front of both footwells.  No patches in back, but it was on its way to needing some.

 

I stripped and painted the whole floor.  It was time consuming, but was a very gratifying job in the end.

I now disagree with some of the timing advice I have given in the past.  I misinterpreted the distributor curves in the Blue Book. 

I've switched from using ported-vacuum to manifold, with better results. 

I apologize for spreading misinformation.

 Rear subframe mount structure on both sides is gone, that's a deal breaker for me.

Really a shame. A straight, relatively low mileage, undamaged, unmolested car destroyed by careless storage.

All because it started "running bad"?

This thread generated a lot of interest on the A/C with some speculation on the brand, so a quick revival.

Finally got the console out and took a few pics but still haven't found any identifying marks.
