Manual choke conversion for 38 DGES

The electric choke on my 38/38 DGES has never really worked satisfactorily.  It has been fiddled with by a couple of supposedly knowledgeable wrenches, including Korman, but it's just not right so would like to convert to manual.  My '70 came with a manual choke and the original knob is still in place, but need source for other parts and instructions for removal of the electric choke and replacement with manual parts.

TIA

The original manual choke that came with your 1970 was probably for the single barrel Solex.  If that's the case, the original cable is probably a few inches too short to reach the Weber manual choke linkage since it is on the opposite side of the carburetor compared to the Solex.  I replaced the single Solex with a 32/36 and also wanted to keep the manual choke - only to find that it wouldn't reach.  The inexpensive aftermarket choke cables will do the trick - but they don't look or work as good as the original set up for the Solex.  If I could figure out some way to lengthen my original choke cable I would do it.   Any extended cable would need to be able to push or pull and also fit inside the cable housing.  Moving the location of the choke knob on the dashboard to have a straighter run to the Weber carburetor might work, but I didn't want to relocate the choke knob to a strange location.

awww, don't do that.

The electric choke setup's very different than the manual, and I've never gotten it to work close to right.

If you really want a manual, buy a carb with a manual body.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
