M44 install step by step

Apologies to those of you who don't like engine swaps but I have a need for a 16V in my '72 1602.  Can anyone point me in the right direction for a step by step install guide please?  I'm in the UK but my 02 is LHD so hopefully there are less clearance issues?  I also have the M40 5 speed from an E30 in the hope that it will negate the need to chop the transmission tunnel?

Thanks in advance. Mark

There's a couple of very good threads on the UK forum Mark - Knobbys and Matts (Pongo)

Both are RHD though and am particularly keen to know if there are any LHD specific things to be aware of?

Very few on this side of the puddle have used the m44 as it's

a 1st-gen obd2 engine over here.  Which was a bit fussy.

The m42 is identical in most ways, so look for m42 swap threads-

they'll address most of your LHD concerns.

What do you plan to use for an intake manifold?
