Description:

My sister has spoken, and she wants all of this 2002 stuff out of her garage.  First $650 cash gets the nose panel and all ‘02 parts I can’t ship back to France.

NOS nosecone, never welded or painted, for a '74, '75, or '76 2002.  Stored indoors in the NV desert, now in El Dorado Hills, CA (east of Sacramento). The part is in very good shape, please see pictures.  I'm not sure how particular you are, but I will be transparent if you have any concerns. In any case, I don't think you will be disappointed with the condition.

This is an original BMW part, NOT one of the copies being sold today.

Please note,  this is a repost of this item from 2019 before I left for overseas.  The part is available and will be marked as sold when a sale has been confirmed.

Additional unspecified 2002 bits will be included with the sale.

Unfortunately I will not crate and ship this item.  Local pick up only.

Until July 20, drop off may be arranged as specified in the June 21, 2021 post.

Thanks for your interest.

  • swizman changed the title to NOS late model nosecone, never welded

I’m back from France for a short while, and I’m able to offer this hard to find part up for sale again.

Was hoping this “bump” wasn’t going to take 2 years, but well, it was a weird time ?

Questions? Please don’t hesitate to PM me.  Thanks for your interest!

Hi Rover,

Yes, this is still available.  Apologies for the delayed reply...getting Polaris ready to ship overseas...a little busy.  I'll shoot you a PM as well with my phone #.  Call me if you want to discuss...

Thanks for your interest in any case!

This part has not sold.  I will mark it as such when a sale has been confirmed.

I'm still figuring out what parts I will ship with the car to France and what I will leave behind.  What those are exactly at this juncture I can't say, but I will include those items with this part at no cost above our agreed upon price.  When I get them sorted, I'll try to post a "group photo" of what's included.

My schedule is to get the car to Long Beach, CA on July 20th.  If anyone in SoCal is interested, we could arrange a drop off there or anywhere between LA and Sac.  Shoot me a PM and we can discuss the details.

Just to sweeten the deal a bit. ?

If you are restoring, or are planning to restore, your '02 and it has need of front end body work, this is your moment and this is your part...

As promised, here's the additional stuff that I'm tossing in with the sheet metal.  Alternator is new. Radiator was good as far as I can remember.  32/36 dgav Weber is in ok shape, but needs attention nonetheless.  Shift know is new, but not screw on.  All other stuff is as is...

Thanks for looking!

Swiz

...as I look things in more detail, there will likely be more items than what's been shown above.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
