New 123 install, red coil ballast yes or no

Good day one and all. 

Getting ready to install Bluetooth 123 ignition, have new plugs, Bosch red coil etc. do I need to run a ballast resistor? I currently have a blue coil without external resistor.

Bosch red coil is the preferred coil for 123 ignition dizzy's. The resistor will drop voltage. You need good voltage for that set-up so delete it. This was per Le Tran who helped me with installation a few yrs ago on my '73. Never ran better then after! Other than that, my ignition system was stock save for an S14 starter FYI.

From 123ignitionusa site:

"BOSCH BLUE COIL: Best choice for most Street Machines in either 4 or 6 cylinder.   A hotter coil would be the Bosch Red"

Performance engines would benefit from the hotter Red coil.  I take that as stock engines - BLUE, modified/stage2 builds might like the RED coil.

Installed the 123 in my 69 a few years ago. Simply pulled the stock dizzy and inserted the 123. Old red coil and accompanying ballast resistor left alone. The coil is marked as needing the 1.8 ohm resistor.
