Dash console ideas?

I think the N20s have the same reputation trouble as the N54 but it isn't really a deserved reputation in either case any more because the early issues have been fixed.  Of course, by the time I am ready to build a modded 2002, the B48 might be available for a decent price.  The problem with both of these motors, of course, is that they come with a lot of electronics baggage that has to be accounted for, coded out or ignored.  The N20 has been used in racing, so somebody has figured that out.  I suppose the B48 has also been used in racing but I'm not sure.  The only BMW engines I really do not want to own are the S85/S65 engines from the E60/E90 M5/M3, which is really too bad since I also collect M5s.  The real point is that very few people have both the old-school and new-school knowledge, along with the time and funds to put this kind of car together.   I'll give it a shot eventually...once I get through my warehouse full of current car projects.

Haha...it's from a 60s Cessna.

The fan was USB powered and hooked up to the back of the radio. The on off switch in the corner made it come on and off.

I'm working on a cold water powered poormans a/c built into the center console next.

I will post as soon as i'm done.

I went a different direction. Left the console out and installed an arm to hold an iPad. A full sized iPad fills the space nicely. When I remove the iPad I can push the arm back and have a nice open area below the dash. I haven’t installed speakers yet but plan on putting one or two Bluetooth speakers in (no headunit).

Here is a pic of my first test fitting with an iPad mini.

That looks all post-modern with the leather dash, polished chrome and iPad.  Sort of says Jetsons....or maybe Bond (Connery, not Moore.)   Add a few of those Resra switches from the console above and you'll be licensed to thrill.

Most of his was done by the PO, it isn’t totally my style but I do like the minamializim.

Also I just finished installing two hidden USB charging ports. Now the iPad won’t die after 10 min of GPS tracking.

Parker faceplate that will go into my rebuilt console.

Not sure he is around any more, it’s steel plate with a tongue for supporting the radio, laser cut gauge holes and leather covered, very strong and nicely built, do love the koogle products but postage for us Aussies is crap.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
