Just wondering what everyone's best bang for your buck modification/part replacement has been.

Personally, just replaced the bushing at the gas pedal, best $6.00 I've spent on the car to date!

Shoot, there was a similar thread recently (last six months?) that made a nice laundry list.  I thought I bookmarked  it but cannot find it.  I hope someone with better recall can provide the link.

Dang, I searched and couldn't find anything!  Clearly didn't look hard enough.

Yep, there was a thread not long ago. Don't feel like searching.

Most would agree sway bars, I think.

5 speed.

I drive long distances and high speeds and it's a huge difference. Every year we do a rally that averages about 350 miles.

But, it's over 1000 miles round trip as getting there and back is mostly highway slog. The difference is night and day. I learned this the first time I installed an Overdrive unit in my MG.  I'll never own another classic without Overdrive or a 5 speed.

For me, removing all the smog equipment, (practically free) and the bluetooth 123 Ignition distributor, (not free).

Polyurethane bushings front and rear.  Even with stock tires and suspension, you'll see a big improvement.

(bang for buck)  my opinion, of course.   There are many others though.

If you still have stock headlights (sealed beams), this is the best safety upgrade for night driving.

http://www.busdepot.com/0301600118    After you install the H4 lights, drop your POS sealed beam headlights in the trash.  If you have a roundie, invest in some headlight relays before you install them.

For my vote on things I have done to my car.

1. 123+ distributor

2. 5 speed trans (not exactly bang for your buck upgrade)

3. IE sway bars

4. Headlight upgrade

5. Smog Delete

6. Euro Bumper Conversion (74+ cars)

7. Shock/Struts replacement

8. Door, Trunk, Window Gaskets

9. Esty Carpet Kit

10. Weber 32.36 or just a flat out better injection setup.

11. IE Stainess Exhaust

12. New AC system from Dtech

Just my personal like list. There are plenty more to consider.

5 speed overdrive if you drive long distance - 240/5 speed if you want to save about $800

Third brake light

Upgraded headlights

Brake refresh or Upgrade

Suspension rubbers

Sway Bars/Springs

Good tyres

 Great list ☝️

I also added a Bluetooth media player with phone microphone for $49.00
