Paint Restoration/Detail In Seattle ?

Recommended Posts

Fairly oxidized paint.  It is a repaint but done pretty well.  I suspect with enough compound and time it would be passable but frankly I don't have time for that type of work anymore.  I've clay barred it once and have done some buffing but I think it needs a little more attention.

Any suggestions in the Seattle area for a place to not just detail, but really get in and compound, buff, etc.

I could repaint but frankly, I like the patina and don't need or necessarily want it to look new.  I like the fact that it looks like a 45 year old car.

But if I hear my wife call my Verona, "orange" one more time I am going to blow a head gasket.

Thanks !

Sorry to not be a help with real answers - other than to call Patrick at Midnight Motorsport for recommendations, but totally get the orange/Verona issue.  It's red, dammit :)  I had to repaint the hood and trunk to finally dispel those comments.

If you are there Sunday morning in Madrona (see teelinger's post) we can commiserate!

Reach out to The Shop and other high end places to find out who they recommend.

Me, I don't bother with waxing anymore. Just a quick rinse and go. Such is having a car that needs paint and body work...

Can't recommend anyone in Seattle as I do all my work, but look at this guys thread on autogeek. I am going to try this on my malaga car and one of my pickups. I run into the same issue of the hazy red color. People think my car is purple..... Might be worth a try.

That worked really well, what is on that link.  You can tell the difference even in the picture, you should see it in person.  Huge.  Only got to the roof, hood, and upper parts of the side panels.

Two soaks of the McGuires 7 then two coats of carnuba.  Thank you for that link !  A must for stage one paint.  Should be in the advice section.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
