Bypassing hazard switch

Greetings all, need some help so I can wrap up my center console.

 

Anyone know how to bypass the hazard switch and still maintain full functionality? I’ve got a custom switch plate going in and am trying to figure out which of the wires I need to connect in which order.

 

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Actually a bit tricky since it provides power to the flasher for the turn signals, but I'm sure if you study the wiring diagram for your year you can figure out how to bypass the hazard switch and put power directly to the flasher.  But what I'd actually recommend is to keep the hazard switch and just relocate it.  I moved mine to the cigarette lighter location on the dash but really anywhere that you can drill the right sized hole will work. . .

What year is your car?  To be sure I understand - you want to use an alternative switch for the hazard function but want to make sure the other wires are properly connected so that nothing else goes off the rails?

1976. And you’re correct.

I actually just took out the switch and disassembled it to help. Let me make some diagrams

Tried wiring in an extra LED flasher relay I had with interesting results...

I jumped L2 and R2, that gave me good power for the turn signals
R3 went to the second relay, then back through the switch. Off the switch it came back to the plug (1R and 4).

Hazards worked fine however the turn signals illuminated both sides simultaneously.

Any ideas?

Ooh, now there's a black art :)

 

Are you somehow backfeeding power from the turn signals to  the flasher relay?

 

Maybe some diodes are in order also!

Your L and R turn signals are controlled by separate fuses. You might pull one at a time and see what happens.
